Aphrodite I sat by my windowsill, staring into the mysterious woods that remained undisturbed by the ills of this world. The tree branches swayed gently in the wind, which caressed my cheeks. I sighed in contentment as I inhaled the sweet morning air, the rays of sunshine casting a warm glow over my fingers resting on the rim of the window. I jumped in surprise when droplets of water fell over my skin and gasped, turning back to see a wet Asher smiling down at me. He had a white towel wrapped around his waist while his dark hair dripped water over his hard chest as he hovered over me.

So after looking for days, my phone never showed up, and I’ve pretty much accepted I’ll never see it again. I look around the room, trying to trace the source of the music. With a start, I realize that it’s coming from the window. The sound is coming from outside. My window is slightly ajar to let in the cool night air. I tip toe over to it, noticing how the song gets slightly louder and clearer the closer I get. What I see when I reach the window takes my breath away. A faint silvery light glows in the distant darkness of the forest, pulsing and radiating with a slow rhythm, like a phosphorescent fish glimmering in the gloomy ocean depths.

She scoffed midway through the thought, dismissing the notion. Determined to shake off the uninvited introspection, Ashley leaned in to shut the window. However, just as she was about to secure it, a sudden movement outside caught her eye. There, in the distance near their modest garden, stood a figure, its gaze fixed firmly upon her. ZARA POV ONE YEAR LATER The bright summer sun streamed through the window, making the dust motes dance in the air. A warm breeze carried the scent of freshly cut grass, and the sound of birds chirping filled the garden. Inside, the living room was a cheerful chaos of baby toys and soft blankets.
