I felt happy but deep inside I was always sad. I wasn't able to sleep that night. I kept turning around. The dream I used to have come back. This time I saw his face. His blue eyes sparkled. It had always been him. Mike. He even conquered me in my dreams. He never left me alone. Then, suddenly I was lost in darkness. Pitch black darkness everywhere I looked. But suddenly a beautiful woman came near me. She was dressed in white. Her hair was white as well. She hugged me. She comforted me. "Don't be afraid my child. I am the moon goddess. You are never alone. He is your world." she spoke. A knock on the door woke me up. It was my mom who came to wake me up.

Josey hoped that she could bring the two together. It was late, and Josey had fallen asleep before she could eat the soup Mara had made. Finally, her stomach grumbling woke her up, and she checked the time. The clock on her nightstand read 2 am. Looking out the window, she realized the moon would be full in just a few days.

Klaus walked out of the room afterwards, and I was left alone to cry from the pains of rejection. It seems the moon goddess has abandoned me to suffer in abject rejection. My parents rejected me, and now my mate has rejected me. I wouldn’t stop trying, though he has rejected me. The mate bond is really string between us, and I can feel it. I could also sense that Klaus likes me, but I was only yearning for the deep love of Logan alone. As I remembered the much comfort my brother would have offered me, assuming he was around me, tears slowly rolled down my cheeks. I really miss him but I don’t know how I will get to him. I couldn’t even see him before they took me away.

But something in his expression tightened—something complicated, like recognition he wasn’t ready to admit out loud. “Again tomorrow,” he said. “Earlier. The forest shifts with the moon.” “When is the moon… bad?” He didn’t hesitate. “When Darius watches.” “And when is it good?” He looked at me. Something warm flickered between us. “When you don’t run from it.” I swallowed. “Okay,” I whispered. He stepped back. “Go home,” he said. “Rest. Eat. You’ll feel things more sharply tonight.” “That’s comforting.” “You’ll survive it.”

“There's some kind of new power infusing them. The whole territory's supernatural grid is lighting up!” I closed my eyes, and holy crap — I could feel the barriers. The entire territory's supernatural defense system laid out in my mind like a glowing web. I could see every connection, every power node, every weak spot that needed reinforcing. And somehow, I knew exactly how to adjust and strengthen it all. “What the hell is happening to me?” I muttered, watching silver light dance across my skin. A familiar presence brushed my mind — the Moon Goddess. But she didn't speak this time. Just radiated a mix of approval and warning before fading away. Super helpful, as usual.

I felt Brian’s hand slowly pulling away from mine. “Fuck!” Brian said angrily, pacing around the room. “I know it's disheartening for you, but please don't dwell too much on it. The moon goddess will bless us with an heir that would rule the pack very soon,” Jade said and excused himself out of the room. Brian took a sharp look at me once before storming out of the room with Becca following him. I closed my eyes tightly as I held onto my lower abdomen. “That was my little pup. But now, it's… gone.” I sobbed.

“Then, by the power given to me by the council and under the eye of the moon, I name Rosalee as Luna of the Dark Moon Pack.” The words hang in the air like magic. Marcus takes a respectful step back, and Jensen turns to face me. His hand tightens around mine, and I look into his eyes, those eyes I’ve come to know, to trust, to love. Jensen lifts his head towards the sky. “Now we let the moon hear us.” I follow his gaze upward to where the moon now glows, bright and full, suspended in the violet dusk. I tilt my head back beside him, and together, we release a howl into the night.
