I sat down and listened for maybe five minutes before the frustration boiled over. “This is a disaster,” I finally snapped, pushing up from my seat with a low growl. The entire table froze. “This is all wrong,” I continued, glaring down at the so-called plan they’d sketched out. “You’re playing this like it’s a normal raid. It’s not. Even with witch magic on our side, you’re still ignoring the obvious. We need a solid plan, with layers… backups… and an escape route in case it all goes to hell.”

“Please, listen. We can fix this. We still have options. We can make another better plan that would work. We can’t just—” The bedroom door flew open before she could finish what she wanted to say and my mother and Vanessa rushed in. They had clearly heard the shouting and they came to know what the problem was. “What is going on?” my mother demanded. “We heard shouts. Maxwell, tell us.” I turned to them, the words spilling out in angry bursts. “The plan failed. Caspian fought back harder. He’s taking investors from my pack and making me look like a common liar; all our plans are blowing up in our faces.”

She said nothing else. Michael scowled even further. He thought that she would defend herself, but before he could say anything, Ivanka looked over to the Planning Department’s members. “You reshuffled personnel on your own and transferred members to other departments, thus leading to a delay in the original plan. Work efficiency has also been reduced because of this. You didn’t manage to produce the designs or the plan on time. Instead, we have to scrap our current plan. Now, the members of both departments have to work overtime to catch up to progress. Does anyone have anything to say about this?”

Formerly the most influential of the three, Gary was now resorting to playing the small character willingly. After saying all that, Gary looked at Shane and Xavier with great anticipation. “Brothers, what do you think?” However, Shane and Xavier kept shaking their heads. Shane’s next words made Gary’s mind explode with a buzzing sound. “Old Brother Fisher, there’s something you might not know, but the project our three families have spent over a year planning has failed before it could launch.” Buzz… Gary’s head was buzzing as he stared at them with a shocked and incredulous expression. “Brother, this joke isn’t funny at all.”

Her carefully laid out plan, her perfect plan, destroyed by a single, insignificant boy. It hadn't taken much to concoct the new plan, but gathering the information, the pieces she needed to put it into motion, had been a challenge. She had hoped it would yield a considerate result, a way to make up for the loss of the first failed plan, but it had been a flop. A plan that failed just from the words of an ignorant little brat.

And each day, the line between what was real and what was planned became thinner. And no one—not even them—could predict what would happen when something finally went wrong.

“This is what happens when plans run out.” And that— Was something neither of them could control anymore.

Instead, they'd turned into a complete liability. Had they distracted him even a little? Almost not at all. Thomas felt stunned. This outcome was completely beyond his expectations. Ray hadn't even shown his face, yet they'd been toyed with to a miserable degree. The situation had spiraled far beyond what he'd planned, leaving him at a loss. For a moment, his head throbbed. "Let's go back and get umbrellas!" he suddenly blurted out. "Yes, yes, yes!" Everyone hurried off at once.

And once he talked… Croft would act fast… I swallowed hard. Maybe that was why the men hadn’t returned. Maybe they were dead. Or worse, captured. I pressed my fingers against my temples. My breathing came hard and sharp. This wasn’t just a setback. This was a collapse. A total collapse. But I wasn’t done yet. I couldn’t be. Jennifer had already slipped through my fingers more times than I could count. Ben had failed. The hired men were unreliable. The chaos outside had become too unpredictable.

**Zora's POV** “Damn it!” I exclaimed and flung the bag I was holding on the bed. “The plan failed. It failed!” I yelled and sat down, then placed my hand on my head. Lucien just sighed and paced to and fro in the room. We were so close; so close to getting what we wanted and that stupid call came in. I swear if I find out who ruined my plans like this, I won't spare the person. “How can we fail? The plan was well implemented.” Lucien said and I sighed.
