It is terrifying knowing that something unanticipated may happen to disrupt your plan. Well, Such is life. And now, the very big birthday bash the Jordans had been plotting for four-five good months had gone down the drain and their daughter is injured as a result. What an irony indeed! But it is what it is.

She had made the perfect plan, down to the smallest, intricate detail, yet it still failed. “Ma’am, it’s not their fault. They didn’t know this would happen either. The opponent is simply too strong,” Quill said. “Come back immediately. Give me a full report,” Lyra said coldly. The man hummed a reply and quickly hung up the phone. Quill looked at Lyra with a troubled look. He did not know what to do or how to react to the situation. “Not their fault? I’ve done a lot of things to make this happen, and they have failed! Don’t you know what this means? My plan failed, and I’m in debt to someone!”

“Even with your power. Even with mine. We cannot win a straight fight.” “Then we do not fight straight.” I smiled. It was not a nice smile. “We fight dirty.” I laid out the plan. It was insane. Reckless. Had a dozen points where everything could go catastrophically wrong. But it was all we had. “This will not work,” Richards said when I finished. “There are too many variables. Too many chances for failure.”

“Either someone betrayed us… or Aria found a way to contact him.” Ava cursed loudly under her breath, slamming her palm against the steering wheel. “Damn it!” she snapped. “Everything just keeps falling apart.” She laughed humorlessly. “First, my plan to seduce Kian failed because Diane just had to show up at the worst possible moment. And now this—our plan to take Aria out of the country is completely ruined.” She shook her head in frustration. “Why is it like this?” she demanded. “Why does it feel like nothing ever works for us? It’s like the universe itself is against us.”

As technical glitches threatened to derail the proceedings, frustration and disappointment permeated the atmosphere, dampening the spirits of the attendees. Amidst the chaos, the envious and greedy planner responsible for the mishap could be seen grinning from ear to ear, reveling in the misfortune that had befallen the event. The operation was supposed to be successful, but due to a single miscalculation, his plan failed. He never expected the need to do something like this. He opens his mouth to argue, thinks better of it, and nods. Someone taps my shoulder, another voice cutting in, and I catch it mid-sentence. “No,” I say gently. “That table goes back by half a meter. Trust me.” Luckily, they all do. I have proven to be right almost ninety-nine percent of the time. It’s been like this for two days straight, a constant state of motion where decisions don’t linger and hesitation gets swallowed whole. Somewhere between the first missed delivery and the second scheduled revision, the hired event planner called in sick with the flu, and we had to let her go.

What would happen then? I found myself at a loss for words, completely dumbfounded by her question. The car ride home was marked by an unsettling silence, with Cassandra's troubled expression drawing my attention. I couldn't help but notice that she seemed on the verge of tears as she voiced her concerns.
