Playing God Meaning Novels & Stories

Lucas couldn’t make any sense of what he just read. He has heard the word ‘ALPHA’ before but that’s definitely from his parish priest when he preaches Sunday Homily. He could remember when his parish priest could describe GOD as the ALPHA which means the ‘Beginning.’ For some moments he pondered to himself if actually what he read meant he will be the next GOD. ‘This might be from GOD,’ he thought to himself. That wouldn’t make sense as GOD won’t send a letter to him telling him he is the next ALPHA.

There was a hollow place in the prospector's belly, but he forced himself to ignore it. "I was sent by God, to assist with your mission, and to smite the Thraki down". "Define 'smite'". "To kill them". "Good. Who or what is God?" Jyro glanced around and took the plunge. "God is my description for that which created you". The Hoon compared the claim to data on hand. "There is no evidence to support what you say". Jyro felt a sudden surge of confidence. "And there is none to contradict what I say, either".

“What do you mean you don’t know?” “I mean,” he said, voice low, “I can hear them. All of them.” Fear crawled up my spine. “How many?” I asked. His eyes darkened. “Enough.” I shook my head. “This isn’t how belief works. Gods receive worship. Not fear.” “Then the rules are changing,” he said. “No,” I snapped. “They can’t. The Goddess” As if summoned by her name, the air between us rippled. Power folded in on itself. Pressure surged.

“The object of the game, Master Kevin, is to reach enlightenment, the Gateway to Understanding. That is what a player hopes to win.” Without taking his eyes off us, he laid down another tile offering two plain, etched-in-black characters . . . “This means ‘gateway.’ It is what Sốphận players seek, the Gateway to Understanding.” Kevin folded his arms, looking interested. “Understanding? Of what?” Mr. Trung smiled but it wasn’t his same, kindly-old man expression. This smile seemed enigmatic . . . maybe even a little threatening. “Of everything, Master Kevin. Understanding of the self, of the surrounding world. Of the Ancients, even the universe. But the Gateway is guarded by the Four Sacred B
