The first of the two Picts had drawn back his axe from being blocked and now swung it at him again. Ralta appeared as if he had dropped in from the sky, hitting the axe by its handle with his shield just above where the Pict clutched it. The Pict stared at Ralta in shock, not figuring his weapon would be attacked instead of his person. His expression twisted into a grimace of pain as Ralta plunged his sword into the center of the Pict’s chest.
