I felt them drop to my cheeks but in a flash motion, one that had me gasping in shock, I was snatched from the dark shadow and it was tackled to the ground but what caught my attention was what stood above the dark shadow who smiled maniacally. A wolf. A wolf stood above it. It was familiar and I watched as it tore and shredded the dark shadow in pieces. The dark shadow struggled against him but he could not overcome him. The wolf pulled out what seemed like the heart of the shadow. This was not a heart. Because the heart was green in color. The wolf slowly turned his head to me with the heart hanging over his blood stained fangs with a triumphant look and he stared me as if he was expecting

The faces of the frozen wolves passed by, their silent screams echoing through the very air, a chilling testament to the Heartstone's perversion. I felt their despair, their life force stolen, a sickening emptiness that threatened to seep into my own soul. But I pushed it back, focusing on Olivia, on the life force she represented. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we reached the Heartstone. It pulsed with a sickly green light, veins of black, corrupted energy pulsing beneath its crystalline surface, feeding the ice that held the wolves captive. It was a monstrous, beautiful thing, a power source twisted to malevolent ends.

Darkness wasn’t empty. It had texture—layers of sinking, like Dante was dropping through cold water that never let him reach the bottom. The sedative didn’t put him to sleep so much as file him away, a careful shelving of the parts of him that could fight. Somewhere far off, he heard the cutter’s hull creak and complain, and under that—a steadier sound, rhythmic and intimate. A heartbeat. He wasn’t sure if it was his. Then the darkness spoke.

It contained the complete formula and samples for the Blood Plague cure. "This is our deliverable," I pushed the box to the center of the table. "Please inspect it." Dorian picked up an equally beautiful wooden box and placed it on the table. "The Heart of Blood," he said simply. He opened it. Inside lay a red crystal, the size of a pigeon's egg. It pulsed with a faint red light, as if it were alive. So this was the legendary Heart of Blood. I reached for it at the same moment he did.

The normal rush of it dulled by my aching heart. After a few moments that’s it. All the souls in the forest. Dead. Darkness rises up and rushes towards me from all directions. My form flinches with each new hit of the darkness. Charging me up but not enough - not enough. I’m so tired. I’m broken and tired. My heart feels like an anchor, sinking me lower and lower. Despair seizing my soul. My eyes blink furiously, fighting the darkness threatening to take over.

I thought of Daniel sitting in the dark alley, watching a screen, not knowing that the woman he loved was turning blue on a cold office floor. The darkness started at the edges of my eyes and began to swallow everything. I watched my own hand fall limp onto the floor, my palm upturned and empty. My lungs gave one last, violent convulsion, a desperate plea for oxygen that was answered only by more of the poisonous fog. My head hit the floor with a soft thud, and as the world went black, I felt the final, terrifying silence of my own heart stopping.

But as if my pleas have no effect instead of granting me light, it turned darker if that is even possible.Darkness began to consume me. I would have screamed but I have no voice. Then suddenly as if some strong force is attracting the darkness, a thin ray of spark makes it's way and soon began to expand until it replaces the darkness . This sudden light makes me shut my eyes tight.But when I open them , what I see escalates my heart bit way faster than before if that is even possible.
