"Feel free to end the mind-l**k." I couldn't help but taunt him, wondering if he'd truly end the mind-l**k while I played with myself. I could almost see him in my head, lying in bed with nothing but a pair of boxers on. In my fantasy his hand slid slowly into his boxers, gripping the hardened length that pushed against the thin fabric. My name escaping his lips as he used my breathless moans for his own pleasure. Instead of ending the mind-l**k, Alpha Asher said something very unexpected.

Ashley introduced them to each other. "Nice to meet you guys" Annabelle waved, flashing a sweet smile at them. "Yeah, nice to meet you too. Please take care of Ashley, she acts though, but she has the heart of a chicken" said phoebe and Daniel laughed. "Hey! I don't have a chicken heart" Ashley protested. "Oh Chris is here, gotta go" Dan said. "Yeah bye" She disconnected the call and Annabelle went back to her book. Ashley laid flat on the bed, staring at her phone.

"Ash, congratulations on winning the championship." She extended the flowers to me. Rowan, who was standing one step lower beside her, was so jealous that his eyes were shooting daggers at me. I smiled and did not take them. "Sorry. I already have a girlfriend. I only accept flowers from her." I lifted my gaze to see Ivy rushing toward me, cradling a bouquet of mermaid roses. "Ash, congratulations on getting what you wished for. We did it!"

Liam P.O.V. Getting back home I am drenched from the sudden burst of rain. My mind is running a mile a minute, and Ash is both fuming by his mate degrading herself like that, and excited to have been with his mate again. But he is also really frustrated with her for not wanting to be with us. She keeps saying she is not Luna material, but we can feel the power within her. She is so strong. Why doesn’t she believe in herself?

All of them flickered through me, and the power drank deep from each emotion they stirred. I dropped to my knees with a gasp, eyes wide. And still, Ash didn’t let go. “Feel that?” he whispered, crouching beside me. “That’s the real you. Not some little wolf in heat. Not a mate-marked pawn. Not a curse.” He leaned in, brushing his lips against my temple. “That,” he said, “is a goddess being born.”

About halfway through the change, Pandora starts peeing and it gets on Ash sleeve and hand. "Damnit! I thought I was actually getting this." He covered her before any more could get on his clothes. Bright laughs a bit. "You were doing fine. That happens much more often than you may think. Just be glad she's a girl or your face may have been a target." Ash shakes his head and finishes the change. Bright helps him by getting the pee off of his clothes as Sia walks in.

She wished there would be an ancestral interference but that was just a figment of her imagination. Ash came back to Frost's view and continued to run fast, pretending Myan was still with him so they wouldn't stop over to attack her. He turned around so he could be closer to the brine. He knew if he focused on the building, it would distract Frost and he could leave peacefully with Myan. Otherwise, Frost would not give up. Targeting at the foundation of the brine, Ash knew this had to require every power in him. Frost was closing in with his spirit animal and things needed speed.

The next morning, a pup was born in a village 3 days walk away. Gray moon. One gray spot. Name: Ash. Ash was different from the start. He didn’t want to tell stories. He wanted to listen to them. Ash grew up quiet. He sat with elders until their voices gave out. He sat with pups until they fell asleep mid-sentence. He sat with warriors who had no words left, just scars. He didn’t speak much. When someone finished a story, he’d touch their moon. And the memory would glow a little brighter. Like he was keeping it warm.

They weren't becoming pack members; they were becoming subjects. "Rhea... please..." Ash’s voice was the only thing that could pierce through the black static in her head. She turned her gaze toward him. For a split second, she didn't see the man she loved. She saw a tiny, flickering candle in a world of infinite night. She saw a biological anomaly that needed to be archived. The shadow-predator behind her leaned down, its obsidian muzzle inches from Ash’s face. "Rhea, look at me!" Ash shouted, standing his ground even as the spectral shadow sniffed his hair. "I’m not a wolf! I’m Ash! Look at my eyes!"

I choked out, but his words were insidious, weaving themselves into the fabric of my deepest fears. “Is it?” he purred. “He’s the King of Ashes. He burns everything he touches. He let our parents die in that fire. He let me die. He let your father die. And he would let you die, too, if it served his purpose.” He reached out, and before I could flinch away, his fingers traced the line of my jaw—a grotesque parody of the tender gesture Alessandro had shown me. “He told me how you looked at him by the waterfall. So trusting. So naive. He found it… amusing.”
