“Another one?” I asked, grinning. “What is it this time? More pancakes?”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “No, this is something special. You’re going to love it.”
“What kind of surprise?” I asked, curiosity piqued.
“Close your eyes,” he instructed, excitement bubbling in his voice.
“Alright, but you’re not going to do anything weird, are you?” I teased, trying to sound lighthearted even as I felt a flutter of nervousness.
