"Olua," she called out, turning to face her personal maid who was lying on her bed. "Are you awake?"
Olua sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "Yes, Your Highness," she replied, a note of concern in her voice. "Is everything all right?"
Aurora took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "No," she said, her voice shaking. "No, everything is not all right. I need water."
Olua quickly jumped up from the bed and hurried over to the water pitcher, pouring a glass and handing it to Aurora. Aurora gulped it down, her throat dry and scratchy from the shock of what she had just witnessed.
