"So you're saying it doesn't connect?" Snickers from the back grow louder. "I'm saying it's outside the scope of this lesson." He tilted his head just slightly. "Or maybe it's difficult to connect?" More laughter and whispers. Heat crawled up my neck. "How does she not know the answer to a student's question... but she calls herself a professor" Someone whispered loud enough for me to hear. I don't know if he was deliberately trying to make me an object of mockery but it was genuinely pissing me off.

We made our way to two empty seats at the back. “Hey,” Liam whispered moving over for us to sit next to him. “Get lost asshole,” Macy retorted before I could say a word in response. She held my hand and made me sit. “What is going on? Why do you look so pale?” she whispered. My gaze never left his. I gulped. “Why is he here? Where is the arts professor?” “Oh, that? Didn’t you get the mail? Professor Brown retired to his hometown. Professor Sebastian got transferred as his replacement. He’s hot isn’t he? That’s the reason why you were so distracted…”

I inhaled sharply and forced myself back to why I was here. “Rumors say the coach for the college hockey team resigned following your employment,” I said carefully. “Some even say you were once a hockey legend yourself. There’s an upcoming tournament the team is preparing for, and they can’t do without a coach.” I paused, hoping my words had landed. Hoping he understood what I was really asking. “Do I have a choice?” he asked after a moment, his eyes locked onto mine. “You’re a teacher on campus,” I replied quickly. “You should care about your students. You should be present to guide them when they need help and you should…”

I quickly opened the school’s forum and began to type. MissCaptainOfAll: I need help ASAP! This is a case that should be handled as an emergency. 2 XAVIER I thank whatever fucking god that all of these idiots are finally done with this class. I have taught English literature for three years now. Each year has been a different experience for me. The first year was by far the best. I was a new professor. Twenty three years old. I was so excited for my first real year teaching. I was excited to prove to the world that I didn't get the job just because my father is the dean. At the start of my first year of teaching, I was the shiny new toy. All of my students loved me, and seemed to love my teachings.

"Good morning, everyone. I am Rajiv Ahmad Suvillan and I will be your professor in English Literature. Please, be seated.” He motioned everyone to sit down. The students followed immediately... except for me. My feet were rooted on the floor. I couldn't move as I stared dumbfoundedly at Rajiv in front of me. My chest was pounding so hard and it felt like a cold water had been poured on me. It never failed to surprise me every damn time we meet each other. Is this a joke, dear God?

If he only doesn't recognize that I even exist then my game plan is perfect until I finish here. The teacher walks inside and my eyes just widened out from my sockets. I literally was shocked to see him. He stands before the entire class and he has gotten even manlier and really handsome. He was wearing a white polo that was tucked inside his black skinny jeans paired with his shiny black leather shoes. He looks at us and I'm sure he spotted me cos his eyebrows shoot up. "Good morning everyone." He says. He moved his eyes to me. "I'm Prof. Kingsgrove and I'm your subject teacher for this semester and it's a pleasure to see new faces."

I look up to see a deep voice give the class an announcement. He is an elderly man with grey hairs sticking out here and there. I look around the class and notice that it is almost filled up. Hmm, they must have come in while I was talking to Rea. "Okay I need you to bring out your calculus text book and open to page sixty five, today we will be looking at..."

I almost smiled at him but I caught myself before I could do that. “As I was saying, before I was interrupted," the man started, staring directly at me, “my ways of teaching are quite different from anything you're used to. I tend to get.. intense, at times. For those who just joined us, my name is Professor Matthews and I would be taking you Advanced Literature. Brace yourselves, guys, because there is no room for slackers in any class of mine.” All through his teaching, I was unable to take my eyes off of him. He had a way of capturing people's attention and he could have had mine all day without any interruption.
