My Professor's Dirty Little Secret
When the final class of the week ended, I stuffed my laptop in my bag and made for the door, but his voice stopped me.
“Miss Mercer,” he said. Calm. Controlled. Too controlled.
My stomach sank. “Yes, Professor?”
“Stay behind for a moment. Please.”
Students brushed past me, whispering as they left. The door shut, and silence fell.
He stood near the desk, hands in his pockets, eyes unreadable. “You’ve been avoiding me.”
I forced a laugh. “I’ve been busy.”
“Busy pretending last weekend didn’t happen?” His tone wasn’t harsh, just measured, the way he got when he was thinking too much.
