“I need one that explains more about the case study.” Mason nods, and picks a book from the shelf without a second thought. “This one is good, you can try it.” He handed me the book, and when I flipped through the pages, my eyes widened in surprise. Holy moly, this is complicated, much more than the ones in our course book. But then, my course mates said that the professor likes to torture us with difficult case study and examples. So I can't say I'm not interested in reading it. Mason seems to notice my lack of response. He glances at his wristwatch. “I'm still waiting for a report, so I have some time now if you want me to explain the book to you?”

Now Professors also got a bad impressions on him. “ It's okay. You are not at fault. Okay now, sit down.”, the professor said and walked back towards the front. “ Students, I will be dealing with the 3rd, 4th and 5th chapter in your Mathematics sem 1 textbook. Okay now take the 3rd chapter Improper Integrals.”, he said and walked towards the board.

SIENNA'S POV The whole lecture felt like a fever dream I couldn’t wake up from. Professor Thorne Elias started the class as if there was nothing wrong. He kept a steady pace as he taught about forbidden desire in literature, power dynamics and the way characters destroy themselves chasing what they can’t have. It felt more to me like every word was arrowed at me, heck this entire topic was a bullet aimed at me. I sat there frozen, my notebook was open but my pen wasn't moving. I pressed my thighs together under the desk as flashbacks of last night came running through my mind.

We reply at the same time. “Alright, I’m Dr. Ronald. Getting straight to business. For today’s class we’re not going to go so in depth. We’ll just test the waters sort off. And to test the waters, I’ll be giving a book recommendation for you to read as I will be making reference to the book a lot throughout the sessions we’ll have. It has a hard copy and a soft copy. You are required to get the hard copy.” He looked between us then continued. “ I always say, he who studies with hard cover has an edge over someone who studies with soft cover.”

“But not full-time though, only with my graduate students. I have three this time around.” Two waiters brought their food, and they stopped talking as they set their food on the table. After the waiters left, her eyes brightened up, and she told him she was going to co-author a book. “Really?” He leaned in with his hand on the edge of the table. “That's interesting.” “I and a senior colleague of mine a professor of corporate finance and investment. It is an in-depth work in finance that will be of great use for graduate students in their research work.”

Wait, why hasn't he busted me for being out of school campus without supervision? "Star Lore: Myths, Legends, and Facts, by William Tyler Olcott it's a great book. It's an easy read for a clever girl like you. I've noticed that you have quite a passion for my class." I take the book from his hands and look through some of its pages. It does look interesting and easy to read. By some miracle, my hands don't shake while I look through the book. I look at my professor. "Thanks, Professor Strauss." He smiles shyly.

She said loudly, gaining the attention of both boys seated by her side, "Professor Davis?" Blue-eyes asked brows furrowing in what she suspected was confusion. "Yeah, our psychology professor," Shd said slowly, giving the boy an incredulous look. He didn't even know the name of the professor of the course he was offering. Students these days. "Uh, No." The boy said, turning his laptop in her direction. "Our Professor is Doctor Grey," He pointed to the computer screen. Maya's head shot up instantly and she grabbed the laptop from the boy's grasp, her eyes widening in shock when she saw that he was indeed saying the truth.

This was the perfect opportunity for me. “Professor Cross? I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about your presentation.” “Of course, I’m always happy to answer any questions about my work.” “I was hoping you could recommend some books to me about the topic. I'd like to learn more about the history of monsters and the supernatural in literature. The course has been very fascinating to me, so I’d like to continue to pursue the topic.” “It’s always nice to see students become interested in new things. There’s a few in the library I can recommend to get you started.”

Isla’s POV I froze. I definitely wasn’t affected by his words. But then goosebumps lined my skin. Heat built low in my belly and my thighs clenched together instinctively. If I wasn’t affected by his dirty way of talking, why then was my body betraying me? I cleared my throat. “You are my professor sir and I’m nothing but a student. I don’t think there’s anything I would be able to offer you.” I completely ignored the part where he mentioned the night before.

"And yet, a third of life is spent in sleep." Hmm, okay—that's a good start. I'm intrigued. He didn't enter the class with the same aura as the other serious-face instructors I use to. His chuckley grin seems like a default state. Way to go, sir! "Open your textbooks to page 37." We do as we're told, but the professor counters. "Now, close 'em, and throw them away!" Huh, wait! Is this really happening?! In an institute of higher education, books are just being tossed!
