My first instinct was to hide, to run for the stairs, but, even before I could move, Rowan, Austin’s older brother and rival, stepped out of his room. “Shit, I forgot, he’s here too!” I mumbled to myself before I scrambled to my feet, desperate not to let him catch me like this. Then, I quickly wiped my tears with the back of my hand, and as if I didn’t see him, I tried to brush past him. But of course, he wouldn’t let me—not when his hand closed around my arm, stopping me in place. “What happened?” he asked, his deep voice making me tense up, just like it always did.

Then, with a fluid grace that looked almost like a dance, he caught Finn’s wrists in mid-air. ​Caleb didn't throw him. He simply redirected Finn’s momentum, guiding the younger brother safely to the sand behind him. ​"Two down," Caleb murmured, his voice steady. ​"Don't get cocky, bus-boy!" Orion roared. The largest of the brothers, Orion was a mountain of grappling power. He charged, wrapping his massive arms around Caleb’s waist in a bear hug that could crush a tree trunk. Simultaneously, Ryker stepped in, delivering a thunderous straight punch toward Caleb’s chest.

I stayed silent for longer than I meant to, letting it hang heavily in the air between us. “I can promise you, you are not the first and you won’t be the last. I wouldn’t go as far as to call him a brother because of Brodie more than Jackson, but I certainly felt a need to look out for him. Just like he had looked out for me so many times.

Something that I'm really sure would distract her mind and shift her Focus elsewhere while I figure out how to clean up my mess.”

Rearing back for another, my arm is grabbed and I'm spun around to face my other nemesis. The brother who never stood up for me. The older one who should've been there to protect me. If there's anything I've learned from Heaven Hill, it's you protect who you care about, and the people you don't? You let them fry. This man here didn't give a shit about me. "You've hurt him enough, you don't get to walk back into his life whenever you please." Richard slowly placed his cup onto the table. "You care about him." "I love him." She answered immediately. I asked curiously. "Wel, he was four years older than me which means he was seven years older than you. Whenever I came over, he stayed home and whenever you came over, he had alpha training. At one point, he was with our grandparents. Then by the time you were eight and I, eleven, the whole stuff happened.
