His hands clamped around my shoulders, holding me in place. When I dragged my gaze upward, my breath caught in my throat. His eyes were glowing again—that eerie, feral luminescence that spoke of the madness lurking beneath his skin. His beast was rising again. But I wasn't afraid this time. "What did you just say?" His words came out as a growl. I met his predatory gaze without flinching, lifting my chin in defiance even as my heart hammered against my ribs. "You heard me." He let out a deafening roar as dark fur rippled across his jaw and throat, spreading over his shoulders in a wave of black that shimmered beneath the moonlight.

He glanced toward the wolfless Alpha lying broken in the dirt. “The balance of power is collapsing.” Kael looked toward me quietly. “And the prophecy has finally awakened.” The hunter suddenly roared furiously. Darkness exploded around its body. “Enough!” Shadow beasts charged forward again. The valley erupted into chaos once more. But this time—The packs joined the battle. Ironcrest warriors slammed into the creatures violently. Stormclaw wolves attacked from the cliffs. Nightfang archers unleashed silver arrows through the darkness. Everything exploded into war. The blade bit into the flesh of the creature rather easily and two more shots were expelled from the end of the pistol blade.
