He cackled, and turned his back to me, facing the counter.
Hot tears spilled down my eyes. If anyone had ever told me after escaping one psychopath, I would meet another one, I would tell them, surely, my luck couldn't be that rotten.
But here I was, in the presence of another psychopath who would hurt their own mother.
“Oh look. She brought you some pregnancy strips. When did Ma become so nice?” He chuckled, turning to me with the strip in his hand.
“You're disgusting,” I spat out.
“You won't be the first person to say that, Mia baby. Trust me,” he laughed.
