Zoe stared at the book, her fingers hovering over its worn cover, tracing the cracks in the leather and the faint symbols etched into its spine. It felt… alive. Not in a way she could explain, but there was something ancient about it—something that pulsed beneath the surface, waiting to be uncovered. The Book of Life, her heart raced, every answer she had been searching for… could be inside.

Chapter Fifty One Author POV She stared down at the book in her hand, and glanced back at her mom, who was sitting in front of her, as many questions came running through her mind. She couldn't stop wondering what the book is, she couldn't stop wondering the secret that it holds. Too many questions were in her mind, that she didn't know where to start asking it from. "What's this mother?" She finally asked, staring back at her mom in both confusion and curiosity. As much as she didn't want to give in to her curiosity, she found herself, getting consumed by it, and she could only concur.

I stood up from my seat with the book in my hand, I walked over to his sit and handed him the Magic book carefully. At first, he gazed at the title before glancing at me. I guess he was playing a game to see how I would respond if he begins to open the magic book page by page. Alert enough, I did not fall into his traps because I suspected he was up to something. However, despite all that I have said, I was not comfortable. I was concerned about his next response. He began to open the pages of the Magic book. I expected him to begin asking some questions which I may not have answers to. The question did come.

“Chill bro. It’s just… not what I was expecting ” He shrugged, flipping another page. “I keep telling you not to judge me with your assumptions.” “I'm sorry if my assumptions don't fit your personality,” I said, taking the seat across from him. “Why this book?” I asked, stealing the opportunity to know what the real Kael is like. “I like books that… make me think. And this one does.” “Think about what?” I asked, hoping my curiosity wasn't obvious. “Is this some sort of interview?” he asked, placing the book on the table without closing it.

He replied as he continued to look around. “And what is that book about?” I wondered why he was persistently still searching when he already figured out what was taken. “It’s a book about the history of our kinds, but now I’m beginning to doubt if that’s what the book is all about.” He said without glancing at me. “Then why are you still searching?” I finally asked. “Because that book wasn’t the only thing they came for?” He said, finally looking me in the eye. I could tell he was getting impatient with my questions, but I was determined to know everything he knew.

I lick my bottom lip unconsciously, darting towards her until there's no space left. "I dare you, Cam." I replay, ducking my head low enough to reach her left ear. Her breathing seizes and there's enough heat radiating off her skin to melt mine. "I should get going. It's late." She blurts, turning her head towards me. Massive mistake. "You haven't answered all of my questions. Let's start with number one. Anything else you want aside from the book?" Her gaze levers from the book in her hand to my features, back to the book, and then it drops to the ground. "No."
