The Rule
She beamed, looking up at Inayat for approval.
“Well done,” Inayat said, nodding gently. “You’re learning.”
There was a pause, filled only by the distant rustle of leaves and the soft calls of birds retiring for the evening. Aabroo looked out toward the horizon, where the sun dipped like a coin into the bowl of the world.
“I wonder if Bhaiya can hear the iktara from where he stands,” she murmured.
Inayat’s hands froze for a heartbeat, the name brushing against her like cold wind.
