The city didn’t. My phone vibrated against the metal table beside the cot, dragging me awake. I reached for it without hurry. The screen lit up with headlines. A reporter stood outside the hospital, police tape fluttering behind her. Flashing red and blue lights painted everything in harsh color.

Chapter – 0001 Narrator A potential bioweapon was leaked, and we lost containment of it. By the time we figured out what was going on, we were chasing down leads from a little city called Springfield. We weren’t sure of the weapon’s capabilities, but we knew that it got in the water supply. Luckily, the town was small enough that we could move in and quarantine. It wasn’t easy, as we had little to no information and went from zero to operation in about an hour.

That annoying little prick Rocco was completely uncontrollable. He's like a wild dog I could barely leash, and he’d proved it time and time again. Not that I was surprised anyway. The bullhead had already gone to Raymond’s main mansion and executed a mass shooting despite me giving clear orders. Raymond, the coward that he was, was thankfully not home when it happened, but Rocco had managed to kill two of his close confidants in the bloody exchange.

Raven awoke with a start, “Fuck!” It was that dream again. Raven sat up in her bed, breathing hard, running a hand threw her dark hair. It’s been six years since the incident. Her parents had called the cops, because she was late coming home, and they finally found her in the alleyway.

The helicopter turned and flew southwest. There lay the mountains. My true home. A few days later, I was released from observation at a military quarantine hospital out of state. The news kept broadcasting the disaster in that city. The official report said a large-scale hallucinogenic incident had been caused by an underground hazardous chemical leak, and the city had been sealed indefinitely. No survivors. I sat on the hospital bed and looked at the sunlight outside the window. In my hand, I held the rosary's wooden cross. "Click."

"I think something bad is going to happen or it already did." {"Casey...are you sure you woke up properly?"} asked Rick slightly annoyed. {"There is no full moon tonight, it ain't till next week, and believe me I've been keeping track in case that asshole shows up again at either of our doorsteps, and there was nothing on the news about people mourning."} "I know what I saw Rick," said Casey frustrated. As the pool of blood spreads, I hear someone off in the distance scream and then I hear sirens. Eric grabs ahold of my hand and Ryder takes the lead before we head to the car and leave the scene, because the cops have been called and that spells trouble. On the way out of the city, I watch out the side window at all the people walking along, oblivious of what just happened. Are they all like those few, or were they just the exception? I guess I will never know, because I don’t plan on ever meeting another one as long as I live.

He’d initially planned to only do it just so he could leak out this affair, but now, he came with something else in mind - wanting to find out if Larissa knew anything else about Catrine Carter, perhaps even Monica Upshaw and the recent attacks on hunters headquarters. The heroes were too busy devising a plan to save the world, that they forgot to monitor how the city people are doing, especially now that the CCTV’s are not working due to the blackout around the headquarters’ area.
