I did ask the Lunae if they could use their abilities to turn the fighters on each other, but according to Rose there are too many of them. Mara will blast them with her elemental powers, but Kahn warned me to keep an eye on her energy levels, and to pull her out when it looks like she’s burning through her magic. A squad of warriors will wait inside the borders of the town. Ready to attack and kill any stragglers who stumble around. As we approach the pass, the clouds rumble, lightning flashes, and a thunderstrike claps overhead. The rain lifts and a deep, dark mist descend on us, hiding us in its embrace. The wolves stop marching, looking around in awe. Our eyes can pierce through the mist

What an incredible journey with this book! The storyline and characters are enthralling. I liked the complexity of every character, their struggles to overcome abuse and how they supported each other to overcome it and how they faced a nearly extinction event.

The Warrior Princess

The Warrior Princess

"Although I still have a lot to speak, we are not here to have this discussion here. What we need to concentrate on is our enemy. But before that, let me put forth a warning. From now on, if I hear one wrong word against women from any of you, then you will be answerable to my sword." As soon as these words left her mouth, audible gasps reverberated in the room. Everybody knew that Raelynn was the most formidable warrior in the kingdom of Volar and winning against her in a one on one battle was impossible, even for the other three Commanders. She was just the best.

LUNAR BONDS

Luna channeled the moonflower's energy, calling upon its power to aid her in the battle. Her body transformed into that of a fearsome warrior-wolf, her fangs and claws gleaming in the moonlight. She lunged towards the werewolf, the clash of their bodies shaking the ground beneath them. A fierce battle ensued, the clash of the warriors echoing through the night. Luna fought with every ounce of her strength, her movements fluid and agile. The moonflower's power coursed through her, enhancing her speed and strength in the face of the colossal beast.

Bound by the Moon: Mated to Triplet Alphas

Smoke rose from Lior’s body as he collapsed, his small frame twitching. Ava’s eyes glowed white, her hands trembling as more sparks surged. Her hair whipped around her face, her body pulsing with raw energy. “She’s going to tear the place apart!” Mark shouted over the gale, dragging another recruit to safety. “Don’t touch her!” another warrior yelled, shielding his face from a flying splinter. “She’ll kill anyone who gets close!” “I don’t care!” I roared back, forcing myself forward, step by painful step. The storm ripped at me, clawing my clothes, slicing my skin but I kept going.

The Way of the Dragon

The Way of the Dragon

The Rainbow Frog tried its best to resist and spat out dozens of flames of other colors in succession, but it could only slow down its speed. Its seven kinds of poisonous flames, which it was proud of, were continuously swallowed and refined by Zephyr Khan. If it wasn't proficient in fire attribute energy and had a strong resistance to fire attribute energy, it probably wouldn't have been able to withstand the high temperature of this flaming fist force! Frightening! It was too terrifying! At this moment, in the heart of the Rainbow Frog, it had completely understood that the human warrior in front of it was a strong opponent! The power of the opponent's Scorching Sun Flame was even more ter

Enjoying the book tremendously, the characters names and even the tone of the author changed in the last 1/3 of the book was a bit confusing but was able to adjust to the changes the plot is definitely engaging and keeps you pushing to see how it all plays out for Zepher but it seem to abruptly?

Queen's Conquest - Warrior Queen's Harem

Queen's Conquest - Warrior Queen's Harem

She reached for their hands, needing a moment to ground herself before moving on. Turning to the warriors around her. “We have drawn a line in the sand. We have challenged the Elders and their old ways of ruling. I will not command you to fight by my side, but I will ask you to. Now is your chance to leave and no one will say a word about it.” She paused and waited to see if anyone would leave. To her amazement, no one did. The Sapphire Flame pulsed brightly and then shot out into the crowd of warriors. The Flame licked each of them and then returned to Zalindra. Each of them now carried a faint blue glow marking them as hers.

A Symphony of Frost and Flame

A Symphony of Frost and Flame

“You shall have a taste of god’s wrath …” Larice took a deep breath, gripping the hilt of her rapier tight. Her palms were cold and moist—her heart and blood running faster with her breath. He was too strong for her, she knew. But as long as she’s still standing, she would fight until her last breath. This was all for her friends … Faran … Raeherys … Estevan … and all innocent people who suffered and died from the damages of the war … including her village … and her parents. Larice cried out at the top of her lungs as she dashed forward, waving her rapier with all her might, but when she saw the spear bursting into flames again, she gasped and lost control.

A slow start, but I understand because the characters and the world needs to be established well. And you did! I'm so so so glad I continued reading since the book really has a very strong middle. So many plot twists! And what I love the most is the magic system! Wew. Great job!

Now this is an epic dragon story I'm looking for! Unlike other stories, you've given your dragons their own culture, government system, livelihood, religion ... we even got a map! You're such an awesome author. PS. I also loved your book Reclaim the Ice Crown. Great job!

RAINBOW

RAINBOW

I asked, taking note that he was all alone. He chuckled "Well, I'm not," he paused and gasped "but I'm not one to just follow orders,, you see?" I scoffed at that "Silly" I said but I knew that he so much reminded me of my previous self. The self that was healthy enough to defile orders. "There's something with the wind," he said "the way it rustles by, caressing the flowers and redirecting the rain" I dimmed my eyes a little, trying to understand exactly what he meant by that. But the next second, I burst into laughter. I think that was the very first time I'd laughed for days and I'm still thankful to him even as I write this.

The Omega’s Redemption

The Omega’s Redemption

The clouds parted, revealing a brilliant light that enveloped them. Zephyr’s laughter echoed through the air, a sound of approval and joy. “You have proven yourselves worthy! The winds shall be your allies against Drax, and I will lend you my power.” As the storm settled, the trio felt a surge of energy coursing through them, the winds weaving around their forms like a protective embrace. They had gained another ally, and with it, the hope of a brighter future. “Thank you, Zephyr,” Xienma said, her heart swelling with gratitude. “We will use this power to protect the Moonflower and our world.”

The Luna of Rain

The Luna of Rain

Warriors burst through the trees on all sides, running at us in full force, meeting in the middle before turning back around to face the enemy that was closing in. They managed to get a head start and that was going to help Raina tremendously. She broke off from everyone, running to stand between us and the rogues we could hear quickly closing in. She lifted her arms out at her side, palms facing up, and soon a gale of wind encased her body. It wrapped around her, whipping her braid around as it built up. Dirt and leaves joined in with the wind as it grew taller and taller, thicker and wider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rainbirds is this quietly beautiful novel that snuck up on me one lazy afternoon when I was browsing the bookstore. The author, Clarissa Goenawan, has this knack for weaving melancholy and mystery into everyday moments—it’s like she paints with words. I first stumbled across her work after reading glowing reviews about her debut, and I’ve been hooked ever since. What I love about her style is how she blends Japanese and Indonesian cultural nuances without making it feel forced. The way she writes about grief and secrets in 'Rainbirds' reminded me of Haruki Murakami’s vibe, but with a softer, more feminine touch.

Goenawan’s background is fascinating too—she’s Indonesian-born but spent years in Singapore and Japan, and you can totally feel those influences in her storytelling. The book’s protagonist, Ren Ishida, unravels his sister’s murder in this sleepy town, and the whole atmosphere feels like a humid dream. It’s one of those books where the setting almost becomes a character itself. If you’re into atmospheric literary fiction with a side of slow-burn mystery, her work’s a must-read. I still think about that ending months later—it lingers like the scent of rain on pavement.
