Alice menatap sendu ke arah luar jendela rumahnya. Tampak terlihat anak-anak kecil tengah bermain bola di depan rumahnya. Sesekali ia menghapus buliran bening, yang membasahi pipinya. Ia kembali teringat akan ucapan sang ibu mertua, yang membuatnya menitikkan air mata. Sang ibu mertua menyindirnya, saat ia dan suami berkunjung kesana. Sindiran tajam yang terdengar biasa bagi yang lain, tapi tidak bagi Alice.
