Chapter Thirteen
Dawn broke dull and gray, the light seeping weakly through shattered windows. Smoke from burned-out vehicles still drifted across the yard, clinging to the air, mixing with the metallic stench of blood. Raven sat on the edge of her cot, her body rigid, her mind replaying the night in merciless loops.
Axel’s voice, His scent and the heat of his nearness. The bond pulled her like invisible chains.
She dragged her claws across the wooden frame of the bed, carving deep grooves into the wood. Her wolf snarled within, restless and furious not at Axel, but at her.
