The Prophecy's Pawn
The beast paused, snarled, and backed away, its flaming eyes narrowing at the illumination.
"Kyara," Eric said softly, his voice scarcely audible. "You're stronger than you think."
Something inside of me cracked. Fear, uncertainty, and grief were all burnt away, leaving behind a strong determination. I would not lose him. Not like this.
Closing my eyes, I allowed the pendant's warmth to wash over me. The darkness within me stirred, but this time I did not resist it. I accepted, embraced, and let it become a part of me.
