Luna’s Rebellion
Glassy, fever-bright, but hers.
“I told you,” she whispered, and there was something in her voice that wasn’t her voice. A second note beneath the first, colder than winter, older than gods.
My stomach turned to iron. “Tell me what’s in you.”
Her throat worked, and when she spoke, the cavern seemed to listen.
“The First Hunger.”
The words were smoke and ash and starlight, and they hung between us like a blade.
I wanted to deny it. Wanted to believe it was impossible. But I’d seen the way the void vanished, the way the tether snapped when she pulled it in. She hadn’t closed the rift. She’d devoured it.
