I ordered, already moving.
The trail wound through the trees, the footprints growing fainter with each step. Then, suddenly, they stopped.
“Tire tracks,” Peter said, pointing to the fresh indentations in the dirt.
I crouched, running my fingers along the grooves. They were deep, heavy. A truck, maybe. Or an SUV.
“They were smart,” I muttered. “Covered their tracks well.”
Pete looked at me nervously. “What do we do now, Alpha?”
