On the way we hit traffic, while Gregory and Lanna were quite relaxed me and Acre were on edge, Acre was so bad his hand was on the door handle "Calm down guys it wont be long" Gregory said looking in the rearview mirror. As soon as the car stopped me and Acre lept out of the car ready to tear apart anyone who so much as looked at our mates wrong but as soon as I took a deep breath the sweet scent of the sun,sea,sand and icecream hits me causing me to stop in my tracks and from the looks of things Acre has caught the scent of his mate too.

The occasional whisper from students studying together somewhere deeper in the building. Nothing more. Mary's eyes moved steadily across the page in front of her. Her lips shifted faintly as she read the content internally to herself. Line after line. Paragraph after paragraph. After a while, she reached the bottom of the page and flipped it over. The crisp paper rustled softly beneath her fingers. She immediately continued reading. Minutes passed. Then she heard footsteps. Approaching. Mary's eyes lifted from the textbook. A guy was walking toward her table. Tall. Chocolate-skinned.

I followed her instruction and when I did, I found myself reading out word's on the first page of the book. "Spell one; Possession technique." "No way, I can read the book!"

POV: Hailey I read it three times. The first time my eyes moved over the words without fully taking them in, just the shape of them, the handwriting, the specific way she formed her letters, small and controlled and leaning very slightly to the right. The second time I slowed down and let each sentence land properly. The third time I read it like I was looking for something I had missed, some hidden layer underneath the words themselves, some explanation for how a person could write something like this and still have done everything she did.

Adrian's POV He had read the essay four times before his assistant arrived that morning. The first time quickly, standing at his desk before the city had fully woken, his coffee going cold beside the laptop while he moved through each paragraph with the controlled attention of someone assessing damage before deciding how to respond to it. Otherwise there was very little sound. Nyra opened the letter again before we had gone half a mile. I saw it from the corner of my eye. She smoothed it carefully over her lap, the way someone handled a relic that could not survive rough hands. Then she read it. Not quickly. Not like a person skimming for information. Slowly.
