THE CURSED ONE
Helen’s voice softened, but her eyes were shrewd “ Where is your wolf, Laura? Don’t lie, I know she’s there. Your not wolfless.”
A flash of pitch black overtook Laura’s left eye, then vanished. Only Helen saw it.
Suddenly, a crack of thunder, shattered the ceiling overhead. Lightening tore through the sky, slamming into the earth mere inches from Helen’s feet.
Gasps erupted. Guards moved. Screams followed. Helen stood unmoving, shaken, but not retreating.
Miguma stepped forward. Her smirk was slow and dark.
“It is the goddesses will that things unfold as they are,” she said softly, her eyes glowing like dying stars. “ Be patient. Councilor Helen. The Moon Goddess is never wrong.”
