“Red. Not white,” I said, looking over my shoulder at her. “White is for brides. Red is for war.”
Leni stared at me like I’d grown another head.
“Red is for war,” she repeated, her voice flat. “Seriously?”
I didn’t answer.
She exhaled through her nose and paced once, then turned to face me full-on.
“Okay,” she said, arms crossed, eyes sharp and unforgiving. “Let’s play this out. What’s the grand plan, Dusan? You parade me through the front doors in some crimson designer dress as your mafia bride, and then what?”
