I remember begging him for a story when he came in to tuck me in almost every night. The book was filled with lots of short stories, all of them about werewolves. I flipped to my favorite one, Little Red Riding Hood. It was about a young she-wolf who was taking her grandmother some food goods. Her grandmother lived in the forest oddly enough, instead of a pack where the little girl lived. When she got to her grandmother’s house and knocked on the door, a male-wolf answered the door. As soon as their eyes met, her wolf recognized him as her mate. It turned out that her grandmother had gotten hurt while out and the wolf had found her in distress, carried her home, and tended to her wound

Seeing her struggling so hard, Lowell loosened his grip, and she quickly got out of the bed. "You must have heard the story of 'Little Red Riding Hood' from your grandmother when you were a child. The story goes that a wolf sees her in the forest and decides to hunt her. However, he doesn't eat her right away. Instead, he tames her, goes to her house, invites her to his bed, and falls asleep with her tucked up against his arm. Despite knowing he is a wolf, she is not afraid of him because she also feels a sexual attraction toward him."

Great, now it was definitely ruined. The huge paw didn't move away after it stomped on me. The third wolf pinned me face down on the ground, and I could hear Rachel approaching slowly with a good laugh. "Not so fierce now, are you?" Rachel bent over me as she sneered, "You stand no chance in a world where there are big bad wolves everywhere, little red riding hood." She took the wood out of my hand.

His reasons had also been far less selfish. But life was not some fairy tale and not every story got a happy ending. The good guys didn’t always win. Hell, even in the original story of Red Riding Hood, the big bad wolf ate the girl in the end. Just because Grey was the better man and wolf, didn’t mean he would win this fight. Such hope was romantic rubbish.
