“That’s why you need to talk to him. You can’t just leave it like this.”
“I will,” I say, though the certainty isn’t there. “But not now. I need a minute… and he needs time to calm down.” I pause briefly, my voice dropping. “If that’s even going to work this time.”
She studies me for a moment.
“Wait… is this your first real fight with him?” she asks carefully.
I let out a breath, my fingers fidgeting in my lap.
“Honestly… our relationship has always been… complicated,” I admit. “Sweet one minute, difficult the next. But we found a way to make it work.” I swallow. “Now… I don’t know.”
