Carefully, he lifted Marina already asleep in the front seat and carried her into his arms, as if she were something fragile and precious. Marina was like a tame kitten, searching for a comfortable position against him. One of her hands slipped into Declan’s coat and pressed to his chest, right above the steady beat of the Alpha’s heart. Declan’s body stiffened for a second, his wolf instincts clearly stirred. But in the end, he didn’t push her away. His steps remained steady, as if that touch belonged there. Cold seeped through Zara’s entire body. All she could do was smile bitterly.

For a heartbeat. Then two. Its body trembled. Not from strength. From pressure. From something deeper. I took another step. Closer. “You don’t own this land.” The creature’s eyes flickered. It’s been quite some time,” he inquired casually, as though we were old acquaintances catching up.

Megan said, handing over the cub to Brianna. “So you admit it is a stray.” Rosetta said in a flat tone. Megan laughed. “If I didn’t know any better I’d say it’s timing was a little too perfect. Please bring it to my quarters.” She said. “It is a boy, your highness.” Brianna said. “How do you know?” Megan asked. “I took anthropology classes as a little girl, Luna. Your little friend here is a male wolf, a tiny one. Probably congenitally malformed with how tiny he is. Poor little guy.” Brianna said.
