Beams of light sliced through the gloom as commandos in full gear secured the entrance. The squad leader yanked off his night-vision goggles, his piercing eyes sweeping over us. "Where's Mr. Lynch? Command wants him back home, stat."

On a normal day, before she traces her fingers down to his thigh, he would already be hard. But this game, he had very well lost it, and this beautiful night, he saw himself riding her.

But my attention had already moved to the riders still struggling to finish. One in particular caught my eye, a man whose bike had taken too much damage, who was limping across the finish line long after everyone else. He was bleeding, shaking, clearly human. Two pack members grabbed him roughly, dragging him from his bike. His protests turned to screams as they hauled him toward Zeus’s platform.

Lacee. Fuck. Something was wrong. Rinc’s whole body lit up with fury as he realized his mate was in danger. This fight was ending, now. He needed to finish him so he could get to her. With a strength he never he knew he possessed, Rinc threw Erle up into the air ten feet high. A roar came from Rinc’s lips so loud that it echoed through the mountains and shook the leaves in the trees around them. The male hit the ground hard when he came back down, but he had no time to even move because Rinc was on top of him. Rinc’s teeth sunk into the male’s throat and tore at it with a fury.

Then it was Ryker's turn and Kyra watched him stand in front of twenty curious first-graders looking completely out of his element. "Hi, I'm Ryker Thorne and I race motorcycles professionally," he started. "Who here has seen a motorcycle before?" Every hand shot up and several kids started shouting about bikes they'd seen. Ryker smiled and Kyra felt something warm spread through her chest at seeing him interact with children so naturally. "Racing is about speed and control," Ryker continued. "But it's also about safety and knowing your limits, which is why I wear protective gear and follow rules."
