It didn’t matter in the face of death. My head jerked to the right, founding the blade glistening. Looking at him, my hand reached for the blade. One second, two seconds, three seconds… “When you wake up in the other world, you’ll be thanking me, Winter.” And I struck the blade to his face, eliciting a roar from him. Bang~ The door to my doom opened, and so many people dragged me like I was nothing. Their eyes scrutinized me as if I was a skilled killer. A scream echoed throughout the path. “What did you see?” Alessia looked at the glowing core. “The truth,” she said. Kael tightened his grip on her. “What truth?” he demanded. Alessia lifted her gaze. Her voice was soft. “He didn’t fall.” Kael stiffened. “What?” “He ascended,” Alessia whispered. “And the world broke because he tried to become more than mortal.” She stood. Kael rose with her, shadows flaring protectively. Alessia cupped the floating core with both hands.

From behind, they penetrated all the way through to his chest. Makhaylus let out an unintelligible grunt from his mouth. Then, he plummeted headfirst toward the ground. Another Cathedral angel had fallen. The sound of Kass rapidly chanting scripture suddenly stopped, jarringly abrupt. Pain and reluctance flashed in his eyes before disappearing again. He lowered his head and spat out a mouthful of blood. His opponent was Kaelan, the werewolves' newly risen Prince. With Kaelan blocking him, Gaston and Edmund easily joined forces to kill Makhaylus.

Jasmine went flying into the basement falling down the stairs from the drawback force. Gabriel could sense she was in trouble and bit through the pain of lifting himself up. It was as if The Almighty himself was giving him strength because the Guild member holding him down looked worried as to how he was able to move him.
