His brown eyes lock on my uncle for a moment before shaking himself free of shock. He carefully lifts May, who struggles and screams, every breath a battle. I follow them, tears streaming, while my parents stay behind, my mother’s cries echoing through the house.
Outside, the entire pack feels it—the absence of an Alpha. Wolves freeze mid-step, eyes wide, heads bowing in respect and mourning. A low, mournful howl rises, swelling as every wolf in the pack joins in. I watch in silence, my chest tightening.
