Risking It All Novels & Stories

"Professor Bianca, you know what my family is like! If you divorce me, my parents will force me to drop out and go back to the countryside. I'll have to farm for the rest of my life. My life will be completely ruined!" Bianca remained terrifyingly calm. "You can call the police. They'll help you. I'll meet you at the clerk's office at eight tomorrow morning." She walked away without looking back. Meanwhile, Mason crouched on the ground and slammed his fist hard against the wall. It was over. Everything was over for him.

She seemed to be debating if it was even possibly feasible and whether she should raise her expectations one more time. “Well... It seems too wonderful to be true," she said as she looked down at her feet. "It's nothing more than a pipe dream. You're going to be wounded following this foolishness." “Yeah. Most likely," Ricky conceded. "You see, we're not idiots. We are aware of the dangers. We're all aware that there's a considerable probability not all of us will make it. But we're all prepared to take that risk for the greater benefit."

"Now, I want you to trust me big time, Cm. I want a deal with you." "What is it?" She heaved a sigh and closed her eyes. "Let's have an alliance. Let's fight my brother together!" I was shocked. At first, I was hesitant to agree but I saw how her eyes screamed determination and braveness. I nodded. "Let's have an alliance." I know it's risky. But for her, for the city and the people, I will do everything. Even if it cost my death.

I didn’t turn around. “I don’t want to lose you.” “Then why do I feel like I’m the only one taking risks?” He stood, walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. “Because I’ve spent my whole life avoiding risks. Playing it safe. But you— Mia, you make me reckless.” I turned to face him. “Then be reckless for once, for me." His eyes searched mine. “You want me to call it off tonight?” “Yes.” “And what if everything crashes? What if I lose the deal, the company—”

He was ready to dive in, to take risks, to go all in. But I couldn’t share his enthusiasm. I couldn’t shake the gnawing feeling in my gut that told me this was a dangerous gamble. We had just weathered so many storms, so many battles, and now, Dominic wanted to risk everything we’d worked for on a chance that might not pay off. The thought of losing everything, of everything we’d built coming crashing down, was something I couldn’t ignore.

Finally, he offered a soft "I guess that's a risk I'll have to take" A risk. How apt a term for what he was suggesting. Trusting someone, letting them in, was indeed a risk. One that, in my experience, rarely paid off. "I can't let you take that risk, Jacob" I said resolutely “It’s not worth it” The words 'I’m not worth it' hung in the air unsaid, but I could see from his expression that he caught the underlying message. There was no 'real me' to get to know, and the fear that he would eventually discover that was paralyzing. Rima was just an imposter, a facsimile of a woman with no backstory, no past. She was a creation of circumstance, barely a month old.

"That's risky!" My mother smiled. There was something about her smile that told tales of how indifferent she was to a lot of things. She wasn't affected by almost everything happening around her. Even the fact that she was hated by everyone in the pack. "Everything is risky. From waking up to sleeping to going about your day to day activities. It's all risky. I see why most people hide under the umbrella of things being risky when it's obvious that they are just afraid. You are afraid of getting what you want. You might never get it and all you'll do is regret, trust me,"

“He never loses little pet, are you sure you don’t want to fall back now? We can show mercy and you can reduce your stake” I simply smiled at his words, “No. I’m not giving up or reducing my stake” I said calmly, and slanted my eyes at Hudson, “Because in life, there are risks…and to truly live, one must dare to risk it all.” Excited cheers resounded in the air at my words, the a main from earlier been the loudest. “Ohhh, I’m really starting to like you, little pet!”

“Do you think it’s safe to risk it?” Risk it? RISK IT? She should not even be considering this, the greedy little idiot! I already know what she’s thinking. Ruelle would not let an opportunity like this slip through her hands. But this isn’t an average Alpha we’re talking about, this is the King of them all. She’s literally going to risk her life here.

"What if something goes wrong? What if James has more people than you expect? What if the police show up? What if—" "What if nothing. I have contingency plans. I have backup plans for the backup plans. I know what I am doing." "That is what people always say right before things go horribly wrong." Anna almost smiled at that. "You watch too many movies." "And you take too many risks." Bianca grabbed Anna's arm before she could turn away. "Please. Just tell me if this is dangerous. Give me that much at least." Anna looked down at Bianca's hand on her arm, then back up at her face. "Yes. It is dangerous. Everything I am about to do tonight carries significant risk. Are you satisfied?"
