Smith’s office. It was almost sunset. The room was illuminated by the orangish sun rays that refracted through the glass window of Dr. Smith’s office. The meeting began with much caution as the door was securely locked and all cellular phones were to be left outside, as ordered by Jude, or as they now call Dr. Lim. Everyone is back to their characters as scientists and researchers and the meeting begun with Dr. Lim announcing a terrible fact: “The Humanoids are back.” “These robots are mutated ones, thanks to the evil mastermind we have yet to track down.” With a sarcastic tune, he continued.

“He needed breakfast. Forgive me for thinking survival should be measured in cradles as well as council chambers.” Murmurs crept through the room. Corrin hammered the table. “We are hanging by a thread. Hunters return empty-handed. Trade routes dry up. Debts pile. And you propose devices and machines none of us understand.” Heat flared. “Those machines are prototypes that could give us an edge—security, communications, automated routing for trade. If you let me manage deployment, we could reopen routes and stabilize supply lines.” Corrin’s jaw tightened. “We are in no mood for experiments.”
