“You know,” he said, his voice casual but calculated, “Sarah reminds me of someone.”
I stiffened, the fork pausing in my hand.
Rome turned to Sarah, his expression softening into something almost nostalgic. “My wife, Emily. You look just like her. It’s uncanny, really.”
Sarah blinked, clearly caught off guard. “I wasn’t aware you were married.”
“Oh, yes,” Rome said, swirling his wine. “Emily couldn’t make it tonight, but you must meet her sometime. The resemblance is remarkable. Don’t you agree, Adrian?”
