Emma couldn't help but feel a pang of reality; she was only here to work, not to live a life in a place like this. They passed at least seven closed bedroom doors before finally halting at the end of a quiet hallway in the staff quarters. Martha pushed open a solid door and gestured inside. The room was incredibly decent—in fact, it was exceptionally neat and clean for a maid's quarters. It was simply but comfortably furnished with a single bed, a sturdy wardrobe, a desk, and a mirror. To Emma, it looked perfect. "So, how do you like your new room?" Martha asked with a welcoming grin.

The force of gravity in the room seemed to suddenly increase, threatening to drag her to the floor. Get over it. You knew damn well this was going to happen. Just . . . move on. She looked over her shoulder to finally take in the rest of the space. Her father’s bed lay inside one of the corners, the mattress a size too small for a man of his height and covered with the same camo blanket that rested on her own. A large bookcase lined one wall, its contents a hodgepodge of classic and paranoid—“Survivalist,” Emma corrected herself—literature. She scanned the titles. When I came back to the dorm after dinner, Rachel and the others were already in the middle of the hallway, starting on the fondue. The moment I stepped inside, an intense, rich smell hit the back of my throat. As if fondue weren’t enough, Rachel was actually grilling patties over charcoal in a cramped dorm room. Did she not care about carbon monoxide poisoning? When she saw me, she put on a fake look of surprise. "Oh wow, silly me, I totally forgot to invite you, Lila!"

Lightning flashed across the freezing sky, brightening the room out of its darkness for only a single moment. The rain pounded on, jolting the windows that thudded against each drop. The room was simple, a small wooden bookshelf filled to the brim was near the door, the walls were a navy color while the door was pitch black. It seemed like a hotel room. Whoever brought her here obviously didn’t want her to know where he stays or was also on the run from things she would rather not bother herself with. It was almost square, perhaps a little longer than it was wide, with only one window that filled almost the entire far wall. So far, completely blank and empty, it was expectant, almost curious

Emma thought, rolling her eyes! "Why do you want to go to my room?" Emma asked, getting nervous! Jake didn’t answer and looked at the stairs and understood her room was upstairs. Jake went towards the stairs making her more nervous! "Wait... You can't go to my room!" Emma said running upstairs behind him but Jake already entered the room before she could reach him! Emma looked at the bed and saw that the erotic novel which she was reading was there. I can't endure another embarrassment, Emma thought getting worried and blocking his way towards the bed!

Romero was still in the meeting. Emma continued to explore the house and found herself in a quieter wing of the house. She saw a neon sign above a heavy wooden door. Welcome to the Red Room. Her brows lifted. What could be in there? Curious, she reached for the door knob and turned it. To get surprise, the door swung open. The moment she crossed the threshold, the air changed. The wall was painted red. Red lights shone from the chandeliers. Everything was blood red. Emma's breath caught in her throat. Everything about the room unsettled. She wanted to step outside. Then her eyes landed on the horizontal poles attached to wall in one corner of the room.

She just focused on enjoying, no longer interested in everything around her. In that quiet and dimly lit space, two souls entwined in a delicate dance of vulnerability and desire. Next morning. Emma Garcia lay alone on a king-size bed. The light outside the window woke her up. Her mind was pounding like a hammer; her whole body was soft and had no strength left. She struggled to keep her eyes open. Looking at the utterly unfamiliar ceiling, Emma was stunned for a few seconds, then jumped up in shock. The room was not well-lit; the soft light from a single lamp cast long shadows on the walls.

She opened the first door. This room was large—three times the size of the one-man room. It was neat. The windows were intact, the light worked perfectly, and two medium-sized beds sat at opposite corners of the room, facing different directions. Small tables were placed beside each bed. Another door stood quietly in the corner. Ezra met Emma’s eyes. She nodded once. “I’ll take it,” he said. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Goodnight,” Emma said. As she bent to lift her bag, Ezra stopped her.
