“I need a healer. Please. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” I’m in pain, real pain. The kind that makes you feel like you’re coming apart from the inside. Roxy looks around the forest, her breathing uneven, like she’s searching for something or someone. “A healer can’t fix this,” she says quietly. I grab the boxes and hurry back up to the apartment, but I'm greeted by Roxy, as soon as I walk in the door. "She's just getting her stuff from the bathroom," she points down the hall. Her robe is now open and much more skin is on display than when she first walked out earlier. I tried to walk down the hallway to bring Sydney the boxes, but Roxy gets in my way. "So, you are like a real live mountain man? Like from the TV shows?" "I don't know what TV shows you mean," I say, staring over her head towards the hallway. I’m striding inside, chest heaving, ready to explode. The place is half full, with some of the guys playing pool and others drinking and chatting it up. It’s just that she wasn’t as fast as she thought she was. When Roxanne managed to push Gryphon off of her, she saw how a foot slid out of the doorway. Her eyes widened as she screamed: “I got you now, bitch!” It’s just that she slipped on the green shirt that was now on the floor. Her six-inch heels failed to keep her foot in place, and her body came crashing down. With a loud thud, Roxanne met the floor and cried out in pain. The fall to love was fast, but Mitch was persistent and it was really the only option. "My work here is done." I pretend to dust off my hands before I clean up my vanity. "No way. You don't get a girl all dressed up and think we aren't going out." Roxy stands up and I look down at her sneakers. Her work overalls are gone and she's in a pair of jean shorts and a T-shirt that hangs so low you'd have to guess if she really has the shorts on. It's actually a new style, but I don't think she's trying for that.

Roxy slid into the seat beside me, crossed her legs, and poured herself a whiskey. “June, this is Adrien. Adrien, June,” she said casually. “She’s my new friend.” I raised a brow. “Since when do you make friends?” “Since today,” she answered, lifting her glass. I glanced at June again. “Is she even old enough to drink?” Roxy shrugged. “Old enough to keep up.” Then she winked at a blonde across the room. The girl got up immediately and moved toward us. Roxy leaned close to June, brushing her lips against her ear.
