Chapter 26: Next Step Traeger It doesn’t take long to get to the Institute. We park a few miles down, making sure we’re not spotted. A few miles ago, we turned off all the lights in our vehicles and drove in the dark. One of the upsides of being Supernatural is that we have excellent night vision. There are still Lycans out looking for me. Unfortunately for the doctors, the Lycans are not reporting that they’ve seen us. They still assume that my men are under the control of the receptors.

Her voice quivers. He nods his head in pity. “Yes, apparently, he kept several videos inside personal files that were recovered by the council.” I try to compose myself and look around the room nervously. “Where is he now?” Mathias apologetically looks at me before taking a deep breath and pushing a file on the table toward my mother. “Lukan was slain several nights ago after he kidnapped a young woman. Thankfully, her mate found her and called forth the Macto Benficium duellum Sanguis. Lukan agreed and perished.”

“Finally,” an unfamiliar deep voice said. I move my head sideways and tried to open my eyes. The back of my head still hurts but I now have a clearer vision and consciousness. “She is an Ambrose,” that voice made me look and I saw two werewolves in human form.

Bob just scoffed and mumbled sarcastically that they are currently at the Afterlife. Suyi chuckled and made her way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. “Did you save me from that beast?” she asked while she chopped ingredients for their meal. Although they are now souls, or undead beings, they still feel human emotions like starving, sadness, etc. “I don’t know, maybe the beast spared you” “Seriously Bob, did you? Whether you did it or not, I am still thankful.” she said as she turned her head towards him and smiled brightly, she was not yet done with her mission, and it was not yet time for her soul to vanish.

“I have a shadow that dwells inside of me. To defeat a fallen god and a false moon… we need the help of Miguma’s people.” The room chilled. “I will summon them on the battlefield.” Her eyes gleamed faintly. “And the celestial, the stars… they have pledged their aid.” A breath passed through the group, awe and fear mingling. Fay stepped forward, eyes bright with respect. “I don’t know what will happen out there,” she said softly.“but I’m honored to stand beside you. My mother always dreamt of seeing the Great War. A war where supernaturals and mortals fight as one.”

He wouldn’t accept that and ran toward the sound. But, it was a trap. It was a woman working with a thief. The moment Rufus ran into the dark home he was stabbed in his stomach. I was right behind him and saw the entire thing. I immediately unsheathed my blade and slashed both their throats in a quick movement.

What does it have to do with. " She's a stillbirth." Fox's voice came forward to speak. She got up from the sofa with her right hand on her lower chest in pain. "She's a wolf, but also, a sorceress. Elijah's mouth opened slightly. It had to be a joke, it couldn't be true. Good God! Rebekah is a wolf and a sorceress. He had as friends to whom he told everything, beings that already exist a long time ago. This was a lot to process in one night.

" Summer grabbed the door. "This body is different. Amelia Fernandez was from the seafood market. Someone used an ice pick and drove it through her left ear straight into her brain." "How is this different? Isn't she just as dead as everyone else?" "There wasn't a single sign of struggle. Even under her fingernails was clean!" Summer stared at me. "The medical examiner ruled it a suicide." "Who can drive an ice pick into their own brain and not struggle?" "I want you to read her." I rubbed my fingers together. "Five thousand is too little. Up the fee."

Roxanne remained silent, a triumphant smile tugging at her lips as the others panicked. The monster's body swayed from side to side as it marched toward the lone hunter. Rufus was in the mood to go out in style. He unsheathed his blade, running to meet the creature. In one heave, he jumped up with his last strength. But as the serpent opened its jaws wide, Rufus positioned his hands by his side and closed his legs tight. He was swallowed whole. *Blergh!* Arlen turned his head to the side and threw up. His efforts at saving his brother were now in vain. His very actions had led Rufus to his death.

I tell myself before closing my eyes. I wake up thirty minutes later on the floor in a familiar room. I know this room too well. As a servant, I get to scrub and polish it but also every Friday I always end up here. Prophet Rufus’ guest room. He is the pack’s healer and prophet, an advantage of mutation. He has predicted a lot of things that have come to pass exactly as he said they would. He also, unfortunately also reads minds. This is why he is Alpha Theo’s every Friday night guest. He is always out of the pack’s boundaries trying to gather information on how to reverse the mutations but he returns every Friday to read my Alpha Theo’s hateful thoughts.
