Getting Lucky
“Don’t get into too much trouble today, okay? Have fun.”
“Always,” I promised. Then the door slammed shut, and the cabbie looked at me in the rearview mirror.
“Where to?” he asked, waiting impatiently for my answer. He was already easing his way back into traffic, horns blaring. “All right. All right. Just let me get back into the lane.”
While he was trying to win his place on the road during rush hour, my mind swam with possibilities. I still owed him an answer to his question. Where were we going?
