Chris remarked casually as she was closing the door. “They’re just neighbors. By the way… you came to see me. Is there something you want, or did you change your mind about… what your mom said? Uh…” She looked at him, her heart beating a little faster. But to ease her curiosity, he didn’t answer, so she walked ahead and sat down on a chair on the lawn. She went into the kitchen and came out with two glasses of water. “Where’s Amber? Why don’t I see her?” “My mom isn’t home. She went to the massage parlor. She should be back soon,” Ruby told him as she sank into the chair, and Chris’s expression grew a little troubled upon hearing this.

It was clear right from day one that Sierra isn't as welcoming as Angela, which didn't really bother me as I also didn't want to be part of the family; sooner or later I would be leaving. Langdon continued easily, "Amber, this is Coal, the future alpha of Ravenwood and his mate, Brinley." At my name, her face lit up. She peeked out from under her eyelashes at Coal and immediately turned her focus to me, raising her head to look at me fully. Her voice was smooth like honey, "Brinley, it's so nice to meet you! Langdon has told me so much about you."

The leaves were mostly in the middle of the pool, so it would be challenging for her to get those leaves. “Are you done, Amber?” I asked in a loud voice so that she could hear me but she seemed oblivious to her surrounding and focused on the task at hand. “I think she didn’t hear you, Dale,” Jacob commented.

I replied, pressing a kiss to her head. A flash of green caught my eye and then I found Amber leaning at our table, her red hir falling in cascades. "Oh, fancy meeting you all here," Amber chirped as if she hadn't intentionally crossed our paths, the ring on her finger catching the light and glinting brightly as she tapped her fingers against the tabletop. "Why the hell are you here?" Bryan sneered, surprising all of us.
