Please keep them brief.” Draevor leaned back comfortably. “I prefer detailed declarations.” She glanced at him without amusement. “You already proposed publicly for nearly twenty minutes.” “It was a historic occasion.” “It was psychological warfare.” The priests collectively fixed their attention somewhere beyond the chamber walls, pretending not to exist. After clearing his throat, High Priest Oren slid the ceremonial draft toward them. “The traditional vows emphasize devotion, obedience, harmony, and sacred submission within marriage.”

"It is my vow to you." My phone nearly slipped from my suddenly trembling fingers. In Lycan culture, a vow was sacred, far deeper than any casual promise. It meant unbreakable commitment, a pledge for a shared lifetime. My heart raced wildly, filled with overwhelming joy mixed with fear. Leo watched every move, his breathing grew heavier. At that, he took Kace’s hand and led the way infront of the priest. The ceremony began. Kace tried to get rid of those unwanted thoughts in her mind. She wanted to get this thing over with, without hurting those people around her. Soon after, the exchange of vows took place. Chandler took her hand while saying his vow. “I, Chandler Andrew Parker take you Millie Wilson as my wife, my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish you for the rest of my life, for better or for worse… till death do us part.”

“Still sounds like a marriage to me.” Silence filled the kitchen after the call ended. Lucas leaned against the counter. Elias leaned against the table. They looked at each other, neither speaking. Finally, Elias broke it. “You ever think about that?” Lucas frowned slightly. “About what?” “Marriage. Again.” Lucas sat down, taking his time with the answer. “I used to think vows meant everything. The traditional vows would have included promises to obey, to serve, to submit. Those words were conspicuously absent, and I heard a few disgruntled murmurs from the audience. I kept my eyes on Lukas, drawing strength from the pride and love I saw reflected there.
