Later that night I lay in bed listening to the soft sounds of the forest that surround my cottage, Sadie is learning much faster than she did before, her mind is like a sponge and absorbs all the knowledge I give her, she reads the spell books and amazes me with how much she retains, it’s like her mind thirsts for the magic. It took me weeks upon weeks to conjure something small, but tonight she conjured clothing, books, even food. I turn over and look out my window, the moon is almost full and soon she will shift into a wolf and her power will be stronger.

Reading felt safer than untangling what happened. I’d only just gotten to the start of a new chapter when the sound of footsteps crunched against the gravel. I looked up, shielding my eyes from the sun, and before I could react, a familiar hand smacked my book right out of my hands. “Ace!” I yelped, half-annoyed, half-startled. The book landed on the grass with a soft thud. He grinned down at me, his messy hair catching the sunlight, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “What are you doing out here hiding with a book? You should be paying attention to me.”

I, Richard Newman, had been together with my girlfriend, Shanine Graham, for a long time. She was very innocent. Even though she had already given me her first time, she remained extremely conservative in bed. Unfortunately for her, I was the kind of guy who liked a little more excitement. I had bought her plenty of sexy stockings and outfits before, but she refused to wear any of them. It left me feeling disappointed, feeling as if something thrilling was missing from my life. One day, Shanine suddenly suggested that we go on a trip to relax. However, the day before we were supposed to leave, she suddenly changed her mind and insisted on bringing her best friend, Phoebe Norton, along.

Letting out a deep breath, I sigh and lean back against my chair and stare at my desk as if it has all the answers I need. I’ve never really felt this way. Even when I thought that Lola was my mate. What I feel for Sadie is indescribable. My soul craves her. Not just her body, but everything that is her. I want her. I want it all with her. Sadie has never been on my radar. To me, she was my little sister’s tomboy best friend who lacked any kind of fashion sense. She was a plain Jane. She blended into the walls. She was always unseen.

Chapter 1 On a bright morning, the sound of birds chirping sounded beautiful as if they were singing in the sky. Sadie woke up from a deep sleep, this 26 year old girl always wakes up in the morning to start her day. Sadie was still standing by her window after opening the curtains so that sunlight could enter her small but very comfortable room. She tied her hair before opening the window and feeling the cool morning air while smiling with her eyes closed. "Sadie, breakfast is ready," The voice alerted Sadie and made her immediately clean herself and leave her room.

* * * * Chapter 1 SADIE Taking a deep breath, I stared at the imposing door in front of me, my hand flexing at my side. Was this crazy? Was I being crazy? This job isn’t what I really wanted. I didn’t want to be a nanny for some rich family on the Upper Eastside. I wanted to be a novelist. I wanted to write books that drew people in and changed their perspectives of the world. Unfortunately for me, I couldn’t make a living writing books if I couldn’t find a publisher to actually publish my books. Rent needed to be paid, groceries needed to be bought, and I couldn’t continue living on Ramen noodles and grilled cheese sandwiches.
