LAMIA Ten minutes later, the four of us, I had grabbed Kira on the way, sat in my room. Mike and Kel were looking a little more than awkward. I assumed they thought we were going to have a “talk” about what happened Friday night. “Here,” I said and tossed the old leather book to Kellen who was propped on the end of my bed, “Turn to page 123. And read it out loud so everyone can hear.” He flipped the pages until he came to the right one and then began to read aloud the same passage I had read. There was an eerie silence in the room when he had finished until Mike broke it.

Sadie would never let anyone dictate to her. First Sadie and Axel thought spending an entire weekend binge watching Naruto from the beginning barely sleeping was a good idea. How they watched 500 episodes in four days I don't know. They then started planning the wedding from there. We've been planning our wedding for a month and all I've chosen was who I wanted as my groomsmen and best man. Sadie doesn't have many friends in Chicago, so she chose Tianna as her maid of honor and Jessica as a bridesmaid.

I can fight her if she tries to kill me, and hopefully I’ll come out on top. I closed the double doors behind me and contemplated locking them, but that would be reckless. Sadie stood as soon as she saw me. She clutched her bag to her side. Her hair was damp, and her cheeks were red from something I couldn’t explain. Fear, embarrassment? “Sadie,” I said cautiously. “I’m sure you don’t understand why I’m here. I just had nowhere to go. Faye’s gone, Winter’s dead, and I have nowhere to turn to.”

It was too quiet, eerily quiet. Dolores decided to walk forward, after wandering for a while, she finally saw...a book. As soon as Dolores got close to the unusual book in the middle of the white room, she was sucked in. As if watching a document, Dolores felt her eyes going through a novel called, "Saving my moonlight in the haunted mansion". Sadie Laurent was going through her late grandfather's stuff when she found an old key. Sadie being a curious cat spirit, kept pestering her parents to know where this place was, but her parents kept avoiding answering. At last, Sadie pestered the old granny of her house.

* * * * Chapter 1 SADIE Taking a deep breath, I stared at the imposing door in front of me, my hand flexing at my side. Was this crazy? Was I being crazy? This job isn’t what I really wanted. I didn’t want to be a nanny for some rich family on the Upper Eastside. I wanted to be a novelist. I wanted to write books that drew people in and changed their perspectives of the world. Unfortunately for me, I couldn’t make a living writing books if I couldn’t find a publisher to actually publish my books. Rent needed to be paid, groceries needed to be bought, and I couldn’t continue living on Ramen noodles and grilled cheese sandwiches.

CENRIC Sadie loosened up around me. If she continued to open things up about her, this marriage would start to bloom into something more than just a business deal. I also started to know a bit about her. She liked to be cocooned. She snored a little, and she wasn’t sorry to show what she wanted. I liked the boldness in her character. The first time I saw her picture, I knew there was a fire inside her, and I couldn’t wait to see it flare out.

I’m happy for her.” Paul kissed her forehead while he held her as she drifted off to sleep, for he knew all too well what she was thinking before sleep overcame her: no matter how happy she was for her childhood friend, Sadie had a part of her tucked away that she didn’t let show often. She was sad and angry that Noah and their other babies would never grow up. A big part of her longed for the chance to be a mother again.
