I threw at her, and again, that silly empathetic glint flashed across her eyes.
“Ma’am… I don’t think I’m in the position to say this.”
“Speak up, Diane,” I snapped. “What is it? What’s happening?”
She pointed toward my office, contorting her face as if she was being forced to talk.
“There’s a new general manager, and…”
“A new general manager? What the hell?”
I didn’t wait to listen to the rest of her statement. I brushed past her immediately and shoved the door open.
And just as she said, there was really somebody else in my seat, and that person happened to be Clara Daniels, my husband’s girlfriend. And guess what? She was cutting her nails when I walked in.
