When Daisy learned of it, she then said that moving forward, the summer solstice every year would be my birthday. She then prepared birthday gifts for me and even baked a birthday cake for me to celebrate. Ever since my gastric bleeding the other day, she had forbidden me from drinking again. But the mood back then had been just right, so I pestered her until she gave in and allowed me to drink some red wine. One thing led to another, and that night, she finally gave herself wholly to me.

"O-Of course. We're friends." Satisfied with my response, Bethany finally let go of my arm and followed me inside. I opened the door, but the office was pitch-black. "Dad, these are the friends I mentioned, the ones coming to work here for the summer," I said cautiously. Before I could introduce them, they pushed past me and crowded into the room. "Hello, Mr. Parker. We're here for the summer jobs. May I know what the pay is like? Is ten thousand dollars a month okay? Oh, and I'm not really into factory work. Can I get an office job instead?"

That was all that meant. Summer was in the living room. She had her phone in her hand and she looked up when she heard us come down. Her eyes went to me first, then to Susan, then back to somewhere neutral. "Are you not eating before you leave?" Gray asked from across the room. I opened my mouth. "He has plans," Summer said. "With Susan." It landed flat. Not mean, just flat. Gray looked between us briefly and then said, "Okay. Have fun. Take care." And went back to what he was doing.

"Yes, my driver will pick us all up and drop us off." Summer said, her eyes shined as she looked at Anthony. It was either the shine of love or the shine of a hangover, either way it was nice to see.

"I don't know anything else." Shawn pursed his lips. Coincidentally, Summer came out of the office, also ready to leave work. "Why are you still here?" Shawn asked. Summer looked puzzled. "Why can't I be here?" "You didn't go with Gale?" Summer smiled mysteriously. "She had plans. I can't follow her and be a lightbulb. Isn't that inappropriate?" Shawn's expression darkened a few shades more. "Plans?!" Plans? "She didn't tell you? It's Aurum's birthday, she's going to celebrate with him," Summer said provocatively.

“Babe, I’ve done it, my father agreed to get you a job and also, I'm going to my brother’s place!” Summer announced squealing happily over the phone. “That’s so damn good! So, when are you going there?” Amira asked across the phone. “You mean my brother’s?” “Yes!” “Unfailingly, tomorrow!” Summer replied. They both chatted for a few more minutes before ending the call. Summer packed a few other clothes before sleeping.

The amount of compliments Summer gets it just makes my heart swell for Cody. Luna is with Ben now, they’re talking about getting engaged and she has decided that she will stay in Austin when Cody finally goes back to Minnesota at the end of this year, when his contract is up. It will mean plenty of flying for us all to ensure that Summer can still be with both parents and Cody has decided to keep on the ranch and Ben will manage it for him in his absence. It’ll be lovely to always have our first home together to come back to, but I am excited in just ten months to go back to Minnesota and be closer to my folks and the restaurant which I am itching to get back to.

Summer wanted to explain certain things. "Sum, these are not important, I’ve been at your position before, so I don't care about these. I’m fine as long as you really love each other." Melody waved her hand quickly. She did not care about those things. After all, the current world belonged to the younger generation now. Summer bit the corner of her lip and felt a little moved. "I want to go there." He took a look at the time, and Ben pointed at the small garden behind the square.

Checks the time 'Sh*t it's already six thirty'. Summer had begun and all of the neighborhood kids took advantage of every bit of daylight that shined. As soon as the sun come up you could hear the ATV's rummble from inside the house. Blacking out her windows to get some sleep during the daylight hours had done its job but there was nothing she could do about the noise disturbing her rest. She remembered what it was like to be a child. Carefree. Happy. Endless summer days with friends. That isn't something she dared ruin for them. Besides her salted caramel java monster would pep her up in no time.
