I felt danger. I heard bones crunching and almost stood still when Sushi jumped up and barked loudly at the black smoke. I saw how the smoke retreated as if it scared Sushi. Sushi's eyes glazed over, his once golden eyes turning red. Sushi growled ferociously and charged forward into the black smoke that was now backing out of the balcony. I stood up completely when the black smoke disappeared. I cling tightly to my clothes as if that's where I get my strength from.

Better to get this whole thing over with. Turning, I saw him light a cigarette, cherry burning bright, the reflection casting his eyes a blood orange. Smoke billowed out his mouth like an imp's, curling around elongated fangs, coalescing into a semi-opaque Chinese long.
