“Goodnight, Mum.” The door closed. Silence. Nora waited a few seconds. Then slowly dropped the book. “…That was close.” She turned back to the mirror. Looked at herself again. This time, longer. More serious. Then— She tilted her head slightly. “Miss attention seeker,” she murmured. A small smile played on her lips. “…Let’s see how far you go.” She switched off the light. But even in the dark— Her mind was still wide awake.

She sat on the bed, feeling a little lonely now that they were gone. She took a deep breath and tried to relax, telling herself that everything would be okay. But she couldn't help but feel a little worried about Aiden. Nora's mind flashed to the financial records. She stood up from her bed and walked to her drawer, as she began to search for the extra copies she had made from the snapshots. They were gone, and Nora was so sure she had placed them in the drawer. She decided still, to check other places and after scattering her room for close to two hours, she still found nothing.

I manoeuvred my way around Silas and ran to stand behind Nora who was still staring at me in confusion. “Why don't you ask your rogue?” Silas gritted out and Nora turned to me questioningly. “I'm sorry, I just wanted a book,” I revealed as I gestured to the book in my hand and Nora sighed as she turned to Silas. “Silas it's not that big of a deal-” Nora began. “Not that big of a deal? This was Elara's library, her sanctuary.” Silas cut Nora off as his voice boomed throughout the room and his eyes threw daggers at her.

She took a step out onto the tar and her stomach sank. She reminded herself what she needed to do and what she was trying to prevent as she made her way towards the city.

Thankfully, the introduction was not something I promised, I just agreed with the idea at the time. Nora and I make our way to the meeting room. Nora takes notes and everytime someone asks how she writes as a former slave. She tells them she was taught by an angel.
