“You don’t scare us,” I find myself saying, my voice stronger than I feel.
Salcom’s eyes shift to me, and for a moment, his expression falters, like he wasn’t expecting me to speak up. But then he smirks.
“Ah, Dixie. The little mate. How sweet of you to tag along. It’s almost touching, really. A family outing.”
